Federico de Vinciolo was a sixteenth-century lace-maker and pattern designer attached to the court of Henry II of France. The patterns in the Vinciolo series are given the numbers from his book of needlework patterns, Les Singuliers et Nouveaux Pourtaicts, published in many editions between 1587 and 1623. I use the page number and reference letter from the Dover reproduction to identify.
They are lovely on a handkerchief or coif. They can be used big to cover large areas. |
